The role of Venue Marketing Assistant is all about relationship.  The successful candidate will develop strong working relationships with the sales and events teams, event clients, business partners, Wasps Sport and fellow employees.  The aim is to establish and maintain fluid and collaborative communication between all elements of the business and business stakeholders.  Working closely with the Head of Venue Marketing, the successful candidate will be a multi-disciplinary marketeer, who is comfortable working across all mediums including digital and traditional marketing platforms. The breadth of this role requires a savvy thinker who enjoys an environment where no two days are ever the same.  The successful candidate will be happy behind a camera, writing interesting and compelling copy for the website and social posts, and be comfortable meeting and greeting clients and partners and supporting them in achieving successful events. This role is perfect for an individual who understands the importance of good marketing, and who has the experience and personality to demonstrate the value that marketing brings to a business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Head of Venue Marketing to create and roll out new brand identity
  • Act as brand custodian to ensure all levels of the business maintain brand integrity
  • Support all personnel in ensuring they have the necessary assets to comply with brand guidelines
  • Work closely with Head of Venue Marketing to understand the brand personality and tone of voice
  • To support the Head of Venue Marketing in the development and delivery of an annual business plan including the annual promotional planner and monthly social planner
  • Help to develop and implement original marketing ideas to support the sales team in achieving budget
  • Create interesting and dynamic copy for inclusion across social media and website.  Ensuring the Arena’s tone of voice remains consistent
  • Work closely with company designer. Writing and delivering creative briefs that follow brand guidelines
  • Collate and present analytics from website and social media platforms to inform and shape future marketing campaigns
  • Work with stakeholders to develop marketing collateral library of images, video, GIFs etc.
  • Deliver highly accurate proof-reading
  • Contribute new ideas and concepts for social media content that promotes audience interaction, increases audience presence on social media platforms and encourages audience participation
  • Keep up to date with new trends in social media, liaising with Head of Marketing to consider implementation
  • Update the company website
  • Work with Head of Marketing to ensure company data is current and legally compliant
  • Carry out monthly competitor analysis and deliver SWOT analysis to Head of Marketing
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure maximum reach of Arena promotions
  • Help to collate interesting and compelling content for monthly Arena B2B newsletter
  • Stay abreast of new and interesting marketing initiatives
  • Work closely with sales team to ensure sales collateral is produced accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Utilise company CRM on a weekly basis to identify clients who require marketing support
  • Liaise with PR and supporting agencies 
  • Help to compile briefs to external agencies where required
  • Proof-read marketing copy to ensure it is accurate, persuasive, legally compliant and on-brand
  • Work with the Head of Venue Marketing to plan and execute marketing activities on and offsite
  • Write reports and develop spreadsheets to demonstrate business KPI’s
  • Compile reports from the inhouse marketing system/software, e.g., CRM, Google Analytics, Dot Mailer
  • Any other general duties as required by the Head of Venue Marketing and Commercial Director

Skills:

  • Well organised and able to prioritise actions whilst maintaining an attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written communications
  • Ability to work across several IT platforms including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and understand the necessity of prioritising workload
  • Must be credible and professional to generate confidence with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator both on the telephone, on the computer and face to face

Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • experience of 1/2 years working within a marketing environment
  • Can demonstrate a clear understanding of the marketing function
  • Experience of working within events or leisure
  • Can demonstrate experience of working within a team
  • Has experience in crisis management
  • Can demonstrate experience of working collaboratively to achieve goals

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A level/BTEC standard (essential)
  • English and Maths GCSE (essential)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (essential)
  • A higher education qualification in marketing or related discipline (desirable)
